You may be a better gamer than I am. Although I love to play, I’m really more of a writer/designer than a true gamer.
I thought I’d make a list of rpgs I’ve played and maybe throw is some comments about them. This isn’t so much a critical article or review as it is rambling and self evaluation of my own RPG Gaming history.

Hardcore gamers have hundreds of boardgames. It’s an addiction, but there are certainly worse things to be addicted to.
It also makes them dreadfully hard to buy things for without having them directly ask. How can you keep up with their ever shifting inventory? Here’s a few ideas for the gamer who just has all the games they want right now.
A lot of people want to either get into more serious boardgames or get someone else into more serious boardgames. More serious being beyond Monopoly, Scrabble, Apples To Apples and similar ‘gateway games’. There are a few games that are always suggested as entry level games into modern boardgames. Let’s get those out of the way.
I wonder if you are still here. I wonder if you are still hiding behind a stack of hay trying to catch me by surprise and throw a bunch of reeds over my head.
I’m hoping you still think of the times when we used to set the traps for the rats, to stop them from nesting and infesting the whole place, ruining the crop that we so hard worked to harvest that year. Your way with cats is something I don’t have and they don’t hunt rats like they did when you were here.

There has been a great deal of hand-wringing about the lack of what people are calling “true criticism” in the board game industry, of late. What the hand-wringers are wringing wildly about is the idea that there aren’t enough truly in-depth reviews on games, or games that speak from a level of experience; from the perspective of someone who has either mastered the game or has a trained enough eye to be able to spot the flaws in the gem that is a boardgame without actually having played it to death.

Michael Rohan, my son, died on June 10th of this year following a drowning accident at a local water park. We are trying to turn this tragedy into something greater and we are establishing a fund in his honour that will help pay for swimming lessons, lifeguard training, CPR training, and grief counselling to our local area.
Went along to Wigan Wargames club again last week, and played a session of the Dungeons and Dragons Next play test. We had all signed up to the play test rules and read through the printouts, and we were ready to rock.
