Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space Review

For someone who grew in a country where the Doctor was, and largely is, nothing but a name we know very, very little about, it only took me a few episodes of the series to get infatuated with the character and companions hopping from adventure to adventure. Even though I wasn’t all that keen on the actor portraying the Doctor, the story and extremely clever writing that came with it really got me hooked.

Does Anyone Care for RPG History?

I don’t know you guys, but I am a sucker for TV program in the “the-way-they-used-to-be” lines. You know.. the type of programs that show adverts from 30 or 40 years ago, or snippets of television that leave your mouth open at the rather tasteless fashion statements. Boy thank goodness those perms are gone! (No… I refuse to admit I thought they were cool at the time… and so do you!)

Dominant Species

Once in a while, wargames publisher GMT decides to zig when everyone else zags, and prints a game that doesn’t fit their usual line-up. They did it years ago with titles like Winds of Plunder and Conquest of Paradise, and more recently with the cute Leaping Lemmings. This time around, GMT takes out the big guns: acclaimed wargame designer Chad Jensen (of Combat Commander fame), one of the biggest boxes and boards ever to roll off their assembly line, and a mammoth leap back in time to present us with Dominant Species, an evolutionary battle that’s roughly 90,000 years old. (Talk about a different breed of conflict simulation!)
