I recently got my order filled by Small Box Games, which included the new, and very fun, A Lone Banner. It’s a light wargame that looks very simple at first glance, but is surprisingly fun and is easily the quickest Small Box Games product to learn and play.
The Adventurers has been nominated three times in the Unboxed Awards, once for Best Family Game, once for Most Innovative and once for Best Artwork. and I’ll let you know if I agree with these nominations at the end.
You are Indiana Jones (although you may look like a skittle style pawn) racing through the jungles of Cambodia towards the sacred Bakong temple in search of emeralds. To make it through you’ll need to have the right equipment and plenty of space in your pack to haul the loot out. Race through jungles, into caves, over quicksand, across rivers, down waterfalls and up cliffs, and triumph as the best treasure hunter of all.
Age Past is an upcoming fantasy RPG by Jeff Mechlinkski, and I have been given the opportunity to preview the book. Now, this is just that, a preview…I won’t be doing a full review here. The PDF I was given clocks in currently at 253 pages, with some material still missing as well as several placeholders for art. The estimated completion date is September 2011, so I think they still have time.
