Unboxing: Felinia

Recently, at the UK Games Expo I came across this game from Asmodee and Matagot. I knew nothing about it, but it has cats and it’s Matagot, so I had to have it because they produce truly gorgeous games.

So I have delved into the box and its contents and found out what’s inside and if it is any good.

Surprises galore inside!

Nexus Ops first play review

This game is about imperialistic interplanetary conquering, invasion and resources exploitation. This game is not about going to a planet and invading it. This game is about going to a planet with your clones (why use unique humans!) and using the existing residents and creatures to fight against each other in order to get you Rubium and victory points to win the game.

Unboxing Warriors & Traders

Bringing games out from Europe is not a small task, specially if you are a small company. However that didn’t stop Andrei and Agnieska, who decided to quit their day jobs and start their company NSKN Legendary Games.

Warriors & Traders is their first game and it’s a mix of Euro with Wargame mechanics.

But the first thing to find out is if the content of the game are worth the money you pay for it. So lets check it out!

I broke my own rules, which was stupid in and of itself, and I deserve the outrage that I will be receiving from people who I told were wrong. So, here goes: Reiner Knizia can make an Ameritrashy adventure game. There. I said it. I’m even prepared to say that as highly improbable as it is, the game he made is not only not atrophy your testicles from boredom, it in fact is brilliant fun. I still can’t believe it myself, but it’s true. Star Trek: Expeditions (ST:E) is a really, truly fun, thematic co-op adventure game that not only adheres to its theme, but does so well.

A UK Games Expo 2012 Review

Well this is my first ever review of my first ever UK Games Expo so a double cherry popping!

As this was my first expo/convention in over 20 years of gaming, given that I’m currently 39 I sort of understood from listening to several podcasts (admittedly American ones) what to expect but was still overwhelmed by the sheer amount of ‘stuff’ that was present as well as the number of people that attended.
