The G*M*S Magazine Podcast Episode 55-Gencon and Achtung! Cthulhu

102940A long weekend warrants two podcasts. One for boardgames, and one for RPGs.

First of all apologies for the sound quality. Rob, being the intrepid explorer he is, lives in Bulgaria and had to use an Internet cafe to get some connection and the background noise can be a bit overwhelming at times. But I’ve cleaned the audio a bit, so it’s not too bad.

This episode has a post GenCon report from Vickey, who sounds like she had an amazing time. Probably because GenCon is getting bigger with attendance numbers being much higher than they’ve ever seen. I suppose that means people are, far from being tired of games, rather getting to grips with the fact that they’re suitable for all ages. Huzzah!

Rob, Vickey and I also talk about some controversy that has been raised recently in EnWorld and RPG.net about homosexuality in games. The thread is about homosexuality in games. I pose a very simple question: Why are we readier to accept and/or play a female character than a transgender or a gay one?Are we really as open minded and tolerant as we like to believe?

We also have an interview with Chris Birch, creator of a new publishing company called Modiphius. Their first product, Achtung Cthulhu! is a World War II setting in which… well… I think “WWII + Chulhu” gives a pretty clear picture. However what you don’t know yet is who’s been writing this terrific work.

If you’d like to find more information about Modiphius, their Facebook page is here and you can click on Achtung Cthulhu! for the setting’s website.

But you’re in luck. It’s all in the interview!

Any comments are most welcome and you can reach us on podcast@gmsmagazine.com or you can leave a voice message to clicking on the tab to the right.

Hope you enjoy the show!
