With the amount of fantasy and science fiction we are seeing in series recently, and the amount of material we have seen in the cinema for the last 20 years, I think it is time for companies to start having a different approach to licensing their IPs to RPG companies.
Netflix, Disney, HBO, Fox, Amazon, Lucasfilm… in general the whole of the Hollywood industry should start taking a look at games as a means to promote themselves like Carnival Row did and soon after Wendy’s. The same could be done for other series that already have games out there like The Expanse, Star Trek, Altered Carbon or The Witcher. And even more that could – and should – have their own departments as marketing campaigns to engage viewers.
I think we are going to see a lot more of that… games as marketing campaigns.
