dragon01[1]LAS VEGAS, NV ? July 25, 2013 ? The Dragon Kings design team announced today that Thomas M. Reid will be the chief designer of the Pathfinder PDF rules supplement for its new role-playing game universe.

“We’ve intended all along to develop the Pathfinder rules for Dragon Kings,” says project creator Timothy Brown. “We just didn’t want to commit until we had the right designer to do the job. Now that Thomas has stepped forward, we?re excited to announce it and begin to move ahead with it. I’m a big fan of Pathfinder, and Thomas can really do this right!”

“Getting a chance to work on Dragon Kings, and in particular having the opportunity to meld it with such a well designed and popular roleplaying system like Pathfinder, is a true joy for me,” adds Thomas, who worked with Brown at Dungeons & Dragons publisher TSR, Inc. “Tim essentially gave me my start in the industry, and one of the first projects I worked on was part of the original Dark Sun line, so to be able to go back to our gaming roots together is going to be a blast. I?m really looking forward to this.”

Reid has contributed to numerous role-playing settings, including the Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, and Planescape lines, as well as the Star Wars and Wheel of Time games. He has also written nearly two dozen novels and short stories, including Insurrection, part of the NYT-bestselling War of the Spider Queen series, and he has developed creative content for a number of computer games, including the original Baldur’s Gate and Wizard101.

The Dragon Kings game book will be rules agnostic. Pathfinder is the second announced free PDF rules supplement that will be available upon the game?s release, giving all that game system?s rules and stats to play Dragon Kings as a Pathfinder game. It was announced earlier that Pinnacle Entertainment Group’s Savage Worlds will also get its own Dragon Kings PDF rules supplement. Other rules systems will be announced soon, and some of these may be created as stretch goals during the fundraising effort.

Pathfinder is a fantasy role-playing game that was first published in 2009 by Paizo Publishing. It extends and modifies the Revised 3rd edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons game rules published by Wizards of the Coast under the Open Game License. Pathfinder is intended to be backward-compatible with AD&D version 3.5, while addressing some of its issues.

Dragon Kings has already announced the participation of artists Gerald Brom and Thomas Baxa, as well as cartographer Alyssa Faden for its game book. Former Queensrÿche guitarist Mike Stone and computer industry producer Frank Klepacki are contributing to the game world?s music, a key component of the game universe?s presentation. Thomas M. Reid is the first role-playing game professional in addition to Brown on the project.

About Dragon Kings

Dragon Kings is Timothy Brown?s ?spiritual successor? to his award-winning Dark Sun role-playing universe, co-designed with author Troy Denning and artist Gerald Brom for the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons game. Dragon Kings is a new fantasy game world conceived and presented in fiction, art, and music simultaneously. The project will be crowd sourced and eventually expand beyond role-playing and music into comics, video, and computer games. The product launch envisions a hardbound game book, an art-intensive album-sized world gazetteer and lyrics booklet, and a full-length progressive rock CD.
