The Script change. An interview with Brie Beau Sheldon

The script change is a tool developed by Brie Beau Sheldon to help people playing roleplaying games to help create a safer environment around the table, especially when the game involves topics of mature nature.

Safety around a table is important for some people and Brie Beau Sheldon has been working at it, not just for RPGs but also for our own culture for a while. In this interview, I talk to him about his work.

Playing roleplaying games can be a tricky experience for some people, but with a bit of thought we can make sure everyone has the same amount of fun and enjoyment and the Script Change is a tool that aims exactly for that.

Unlike other tools like the X-Card, which are an “either/or” situation, the Script Change is a tool that allows players and GMs to decide how it’s going to be used during session zero and even during the game. Also, it has some more steps and sub-tools one can use.

On one of the most obvious ways to use it is during the session zero, when it can be decided how it’s going to be used and define limits and boundaries so people can use it in a way that won’t break the game for anyone, and also give the right clues when someone is not going according to plan before the damage is done and the gaming experience ruined.

Certainly worth a look!

Hope you enjoy the show!
