I got this book at Dragonmeet pretty much by accident. I stumbled upon it in the second hand table and, because it was cheap and it was colourful, I bought it. Little did I know I was going to enjoy it so much and what it kept inside!
The test of time is probably the best test there is. If something looks, feels, reads or plays well 15 or 20 years after it was first published, you can tell you have something special there. Of course, waiting 15 or 20 years to find out if your work is any good is a bit too much to ask.
But just in case anyone asked, I am reviewing the second of a trilogy, The Seeker, a Dark Sun novel by Simon Hawke published by TSR in 1994.
I am a very strong believer that supporting a solid RPG setting with a solid novel or short story is always a good idea. I decided to have a go and bought one of the novels. It has been written by David Gaider, lead writer for the video-game, so at least I knew the guy would have a thorough knowledge of the plot, characters and the setting. He didn’t disappoint… at all!
