Here is a fine collection of diverse NPCs drawn from throughout the world of NeoExodus, all ready to serve as bit-part players in your adventures. It dives straight in to the listings after a brief note as to what other works have been drawn upon for a few of the feats, items, psionic powers and spells – mostly other books within the NeoExodus line, with some psionics fromPsionics Unleashed from Dreamscarred Press. (If you are fond of using psionics, this is well worth acquiring, by the way.)
This is a 5th-level adventure with a dark fairy-tale style, presented in a manner designed to be easy to run. It is set in the western end of the Verdant Woods at the edge of the Middle Kingdoms in the Soralic lands, a campaign setting by Unicorn Rampant. As such is is suitable for any wooded area with some mountainous terrain that is near the edge of civilized lands or in a very rural area between kingdoms. The adventure is location-based and character driven, with fairy-tale elements and plenty of crunchy dungeon crawling goodness.
The map itself is an entire coastal township, presented in PNG format which allows for almost infinite magnification without loss of clarity or focus (computing teacher resists temptation to explain the ins and outs of WHY format is important…) – so it’s easy to show your players an overview whilst making a really detailed map of what’s where for GM use.
The Zalozhniy Quartet provides resources necessary to running a complete campaign utilising the Night’s Black Agentsconcept and ruleset to the full. It’s not, however, something you can flip through and then run, like the game itself it requires thorough preparation and planning by the Director (GM) in advance, but will repay that effort by inspiring an epic and memorable experience for all involved.
Ever since I first encountered the GUMSHOE system, I have been thinking that it would be perfect for the sort of spy games I like to run and play… and this book fulfills that desire! In it, Ken Hite has distilled the essence of the cinematic yet gritty spy thriller and woven it through the core GUMSHOEmechanic – and added the twist of vampires into the bargain!
