ENGELS_FRONT_BOARDGAME_56X56CMNot everything that looks like a game has to have a very well defined set of rules. And not everything that does have a nicely defined set of rules has to be a game. It can just be a nice activity to indulge in from time to time and spend time with friends or unknown people to get to know them better.

That is what 360 Stories is all about.

More a playful activity than a hard-core game, 360 Stories tries to delve into people’s lives and help them share experiences that would otherwise wouldn’t come out, without breaking a social contract or fall into unsafe places for anyone.

With gorgeous production, I spoke with creator, Wilma Mulder at Spiel 2015 who let me know what this is all about and why is in existing.

Very interesting story!

pic2582503_t[1]I have known about Burger Boss for a while now and when I saw the prototype box at the UK Games Expo 2015, I was very impressed with its look and feel. Also with the game, I have to say.

Although the whimsical illustrations might make it look like a kiddies game, don’t be fooled, this is a very serious game with a funny strike but still suitable for players both young and old.

At Spiel, they were making demos like crazy and I managed to get some time to find out how the game plays so you can see for yourself.

Hope you enjoy the show!

pic2490588_t[1] Heroes is a game that came to me recently and the box alone got my attention for its totally gorgeous cover. It really looked amazing.

A deck builder at its core, this 2 player game puts you in command of an army of wizards and creatures you must summon to destroy your enemies. Mercilessly.

A game published by Lion Games and Rebel.pl, Heroes has been designed by experienced designer Adam Kwapiński, who’s already got a very impressive list of titles in his portfolio (First to Fight is rather excellent!).

But, as usual and regardless of how good the box looks, we need to look inside and see if the game’s contents are worth the amount of money you have to pay to get your hands on it.

Let’s find out!

interface_zeroI backed this game out of a recomentation and a bit of nostalgia. I have to say I wasn’t sure what to expect.

However the fact that it was going to come with a cover by Jeff Easley right away made me put mouse to work and back the Kickstarter.

Interface Zero 2.0 is a reboot of an old classic (or as old as a game can be old in a 40 years old industry) and it promised a lot. After some delays I got the book and as I opened it and browsed its pages I fell in love.

The way the book is written, the artwork, including the lovely cover by Aaron Acevedo, the setting… Everything is excellent.

But I won’t tell you all now. This video is my review of a game that, if you are interested in a cyber-punk near-future game, should be in your library.

Hope you enjoy the show!

pic2407103_t[1]King of Tokyo was a massive success for good reasons. It is a quick, simple, very entertaining, fun and very, very nasty game. Oh and it has kaiju. What’s not to like?

But, as you could expect, Richard Garfield wasn’t going stand still and not make it even better, and thus came King of New York.

With a bit more complex and strategic game play, the game offered a new dimension and level of playability to the already great game franchise.

Coming from Iello, I have no reason to doubt this game will be great inside, but, as it is my duty, I have to find if the contents of this game are worth the amount of money you have to spend to get your hands on it.

Hope you enjoy the show!

pic2222915_t[1]One of the companies I always look forward to seeing when I get to Essen is Czech Board Games, they always have some quirky and fun game that, although hardly have the depth of one of the greatest, they’re always very welcome around the table and more than original in their design.

Irreverent, cheeky and sometimes edgy, their games do bring a “ohhhhh!” more often than not.

Last year, Czech Board Games released McJohny’s, a game that plays on the fast food model and puts the player as one of the workers in a team of the employees in a big chain in charge of a part of the business.

It all sounds good and fun so far, but are the contents worth the amount of money you have to pay to get your hands on it?

Let’s find out!
