Andrew Hackard, from Steve Jackson Games, at the UK Games Expo

Steve Jackson is one of the most famous names in gaming. Two extremely influential game designers and entrepreneurs share the name though they live on opposite sides of the Atlantic.

Therefore having someone at the UK Games Expo who could give us a glimpse into what it is like to run the company that brought us Munchkin, GURPS and many others was a real treat.

Meet the big boys! A UK Games Expo seminar

Organising seminars at conventions is hard work, though they’re also tremendous fun and, when one has the privilege of sharing the space with personalities like the ones in this seminar, it becomes a joy.

This seminar takes four influential names in the board and role playing games industry and puts them in touch with the public, answer questions and and challenge views you didn’t know were there.

UK Games Expo 2013. An experience!

And then the UK Games Expo arrived. WOW!

For starters the venue this year was changed. We were located at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, which is pretty much adjacent to Birmingham NEC and the Airport. Easy to get to by train and plane. The hotel is pretty huge and it was able to accommodate the more than 7000 people the Expo saw last year. And the extra 3000 that have attended this year. It was pretty amazing!

Some of my Favorite Games

I’ve been a bad blogger. I haven’t written anything for this blog since January 15, and here it the last day of March. My sponsor, GMS Magazine, tried to jog me into action a month ago, and it almost worked, but I got busy or lazy or both. It isn’t hard for me to get lazy–I was born that way. And I was working like crazy on Deluxe Tunnels and Trolls in January and February. I’m still working like crazy on that game, but I could have found time to say something about other games I’ve played or liked.
