pic1089477This time I am joined by Lorien Green to host the podcast, since Mark was away and unable to come to this episode.

We did have a great time, though! Chatted about wargaming and Salute 2012, the wargames exhibition in London Excel that has taken place for the last 40 years.

Lorien, though, has been up to something REALLY cool. She has found The Pinball Wizard Arcade and, understandably, she’s been hooked since! Although they’re not boardgames, Pinballs are mega cool and we had a good chat about them. If you are in Pelham NH, you could do a lot worse than spending some time there!

pic1117422_tIn this, bit later than usual, episode we have got a good for you.

Mark and I go head to head to discuss if Games Workshop is a good business or not. I don’t think they are a good business because they don’t do enough from a business point of view, and for their licensed products in general (not to mention their lack of contact with the general public). I don’t think they are bad, but they are not good either. Mark says they are because they make money and thus they do what they’re supposed to. But what do you think?

chicken-caesar-rulesAnother week and another episode of the podcast, this time a bit longer than usual, but worth every minute!

Theme can be a very important issue for some people. If the theme of a game doesn’t sound interesting, plenty of people will simply ignore the game and spend their money in something that is more interesting at first glance. Of course that doesn’t mean the game will be any better, but still appearances are important and one has to be discerning and careful spending money.

So I brought this subject to my co-hosts, Lorien Green and Mark Rivera and get some very interesting reactions!

pic923048_mdI must admit I have totally forgotten that last month was the first anniversary of the podcast. A whole year has gone by and, literally, I didn’t see it coming!

Still, it’s been quite an amazing year, both personally, professionally and… err…. Podcastily?

Never mind.. it’s been a terrific year and I am only so happy to still be around and feel as enthusiastic about the podcast, the website and the gaming world as I did a year ago.

Of course, when one has the opportunity to cyber-mingle with amazing people like Colby Dauch, the creator of Summoner Wars, my hobby becomes a privilege.

Box-Front-300x281We have arrived to our 31st episode unscathed. Rather sad!

This is a rather special episode because is the first episode with Lorien Green, our new co-host, who will lend a brain (we needed one of those!) and a dose of common sense (also lacking so far!) to the podcast.

Lorien was interviewed by Mark and me a couple of episodes ago, and we liked her so much, she was invited to join us on a permanent basis. The poor thing, not knowing where she was getting into, accepted. Needless to say Mark and I remained with our mouths shut until the moment or truth, when Lorien stepped up to the podium and, like the true professional she’s turned out to be, grabbed the podcast by the proverbials and run with it like Paula Radcliffe in a marathon.

We are back with another show featuring a truly terrific guest with Mark and I.

2page_img1bThere are many areas where boardgames are becoming prevalent, and movies is one of them. However there aren’t that many documentaries around about boardgame design and the process that goes on behind the scenes.

That is what our guest for this show decided to cover, and with remarkable results. More interviews you can shake a stick at (most of them with truly legendary members of the game design community), a successful Kickstarter crowd-funding, and a lot of extremely positive feedback. “Going Cardboard” is the documentary about boardgame design that has truly surprised and delighted a lot of people… and more to come!
