Where are the YouTube Women? I have been looking around to create a new show and I can’t seem to find a lot of women doing TTRPG videos… why?

YouTube Women can have a very hard time very easily. Heck… any woman in media can have a very hard time pretty much at a hat’s drop. Any mistake, any comment, any declaration, any revelation can become the excuse some people need to make their lives a complete and utter misery.

When I asked in Facebook, the replies were varied from “I don’t know what to talk about” to “editing is not my thing” to “I am worried my looks are not up to expectations “ and “I am not sure I have anything to say men will be interested in”.

It was very disheartening.

I have a lot of friends, female friends, I mean, who play regularly at my gaming club. We have an insane amount of fun when we talk about our experiences around the table and even more fun when we play together.

But I can’t see them in YouTube. I can’t them sharing their experiences, giving their advice and enjoying the spotlight just as men do.

Yes, there are some tremendous women in YouTube in the Geek and Sundry channel. Satine Phoenix is a true champion and an absolutely fantastic producer too.

But we could do with more!

We could all benefit from having more women giving us their side of the story. Attracting other girls to play games and creating content that make our industry and or hobby a richer place.

So why don’t we try and make an effort to make them feel so welcome that we will see more content like that created?

Let’s try! We might be very pleasantly surprised!
