Going into some RPG Character creation soon? With our Top Tips on RPG Character creation we got you covered.
Approaching RPG character creation can be a daunting task, especially if you don’t know the game. Moreso specially if you are new to roleplaying games as such.
In many occasions, the character creation process of any game can mean wading through tons of stats, dice rolling, skills, abilities, aspects… With that comes the pressure of having to build a background your character can make sense in so they can be incorporated into the world.
So, where do you start?
For some people, starting with the stats is the way to go. For others is a matter of creating an elaborate background. Consecuently, that will dictate how the rest of the character creation evolves and what skills and knowledge it has.
Other players like to figure out ways to maximise the power that character has so they can survive as many fights as possible or inflict the most damage. Or simply to succeed in as many rolls as they possibly can.
Whatever the way, the fact is that there is no right or wrong way to create a character. As long as you end up with something that is fun and interesting – and that fits in your game – you should be good to go.
Having said that, how could you go through the character creation process to make it as painless as you possibly can?
In this episode, Rob Adams and I discuss several ways to ease the character creation process. We talk about ways to approach the story and history of the character. How can we make sure it fits with the game you are going to play without issues?
