Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook

Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook

I am a fan of Paizo. They are cracking guys who have gone through thick and thin in the past, but they stuck to their guns and commitment for the game and came out at the other end stronger, better and even nicer than before.

Paizo has had two devastating blows in the kind-of-recent past. The withdrawal of the Dungeon and Dragon magazines, and the draconian approach that Hasbro had to the Open Gaming Licence when they decided to make life very difficult for 3.5 publishers.

The response? Pathfinder RPG. And it is more a statement than a response!

Warhammer Fantasy Boxset

Warhammer Fantasy Boxset

I started playing RPGs in the late 80s, when TSR was releasing box after box of games and settings with great results. Or so I thought.

Then came the demise of the RPG in the 90′s and then the resurrection of D&D in 1998 in the shape of books… lots of books. Thick books, thin books and most of them full of new skills, new feats, new classes, new equipment, new worlds and in the meantime my book shelf heavier and heavier with tons of books that were getting more and more difficult to read.

Vampire: Prince of the City board game

Vampire: Prince of the City board game

Vampire: Prince of the City is a “modern Gothic” board game for three to five players, depicting the struggle for dominance of various vampire clans after the Prince vampire of a archetypical city has been destroyed. Set in the Requiem version of White Wolf’s “World of Darkness”, this game has a long pedigree stemming from the Vampire RPG to the Jyhad CCG (later re-titled Vampire: The Eternal Struggle), scaled down somewhat from the global scope of Jyhad and tightened up for play in a board game format.

Dos de Mayo

Dos de Mayo

On the second of May 1808, the Spanish revolted against the French in Madrid, starting a revolution that would drive the invaders back to Napoleon’s France and help Spain start a new era. This little (in size!) game re-enacts that day.

You will drive the Spanish or French forces or the Spanish guerillas around the streets of Madrid conquering territories and vanquishing your enemies in an attempt to retain or free the Spanish capital.

A strategic look at Commanders and Leadership Cards in Battles of Westeros

Battles of Westeros | Published 23 June 2010
Battles of Westeros will be on store shelves very soon, so it’s time to take a quick look at the different kinds of strategies that players can employ as they lead their House into battle. War is a brutal affair, and it takes expert leaders to navigate their men through the carnage of the battlefield. I’m writing a series of reviews that are not just rules re-writes. I have done those kinds of reviews in the past and some people like them and some don’t.

Instead I am going to concentrate on two aspects of the game. A look at what you actually get in the box. The components of the game, a look at both the quantity and quality.
Secondly, my experiences with the game including what I like about it and anything I don’t like about it.
